Description

Mount Hebron is a Jewish cemetery located in Flushing, Queens, New York City. It was founded in 1903 as the Jewish section of Cedar Grove Cemetery, though today, it occupies the vast majority of the grounds at Cedar Grove. The cemetery is on the former Spring Hill estate of colonial governor Cadwallader Colden. The first burial at Mount Hebron Cemetery was on April 14, 1909. Since its first burial, over 226,000 burials have taken place. It is noted for its Yiddish theater section and is over 250 acres in size. Burials of cremated remains and in private mausoleums are commonplace at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
